Festival of The Boy

Welcome to the pioneering Festival of The Boy.

This non-profit, launched in May in celebration of International Day of The Boy, is aimed at primary school boys and their families and is a place where we can celebrate our boys while also giving them the tools to challenge harmful and limiting gender stereotypes.

Gender stereotypes and societal expectations are damaging **all** children. It is limiting their self-belief and aspirations, it is stifling their right to speak about the way they feel and it is simply not allowing them to be the person that they want to be.

Now, more than ever, we need to be supporting our boys which is why this month on Instagram we will be sharing with you inspiring male role models for you to learn about with the boys in your lives. There are so many men, young and old, that can inspire our boys to be the best that they can be, to be themselves and to be happy. We must be sharing these men with our boys.

We’ll also be sharing about people, organisations and other resources to give parents and carers the confidence to raise their boys in a less stereotyped way.

At this time this is simply a landing page while we work hard behind the scenes to build Festival of The Boy.

If you would like to be involved in the building of FoTB and our first live festival (hopefully next year) then please get in touch. Or if you know any inspiring male role models we’d love to shout about them. Make sure to follow us @festivaloftheboy.

We have been working in this field with young girls since 2019, creating global interactive festivals, campaigns and resources. To learn more about this work please visit us at Festival of The Girl. You can also contact us at info@festivalofthegirl.com.

Love the founders,

Abi, Laura and Jen x
